  • The Holy Virgin Cathedral has received two gifts: an icon of the Holy Martyr Alexander (Schmorell) of Munich was commissioned thanks to the generosity of a group of faithful from the Annunciation Russian Church in Hannover, Germany. This community has a great love for St. John (Maximovitch). The iсon of St. Alexander is on the shelf in the back left corner of the cathedral. The second icon, of St. Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythous, was ordered and donated by Andrei and Irene Rusanoff. It hangs above the icon of St. Matrona in the back left wall of the cathedral. Thank you to the Hannover community and the Rusanoff's for their kind donation.
  • On August 30, 2017 His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill served a Panikhida on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of HIH Grand Duke Vladimir Kyrillovich of Russia.
  • Our cathedral community is collecting monetary donations for the needs of the St. Vladimir parish school in Houston, Texas. The school was virtually destroyed by Hurricane Irma. The clergy and faithful of Florida have contacted our cathedral for prayers at St. John's relics as they brace for this hurricane. For those who were unable to make a donation at the Sunday Liturgies, please leave one at the candle stand, in an envelope marked: Houston School.
  • A friend of our parish from Moscow, V. Ershov, has donated a beautiful set of silver "dikiri and trikiri" (candle holders used at a bishop's service) to the Holy Virgin Cathedral. Thank you for the generous donation!
  • On Sunday, September 17, Saints Peter & Fevronia, the patron saints of family & marriage, will be marked. On this day special prayers will be offered at the late Liturgy for the married couples in our community.
