Russian River Church Building Appeal PDF Print E-mail

A world wide appeal from both His Eminence, Archbishop Kyrill and His Grace, Bishop Theodosy was recently issued in regards to the construction work taking place at the Kazan Mother of God church in Guerneville, CA. Over the last few years, considerable damage has been discovered to the overall structure of the church and surrounding buildings. A building project is currently underway to make necessary repairs and needs additional funds for completion.

Last summer, Archpriest Paul Volmensky and several of his parishioners from the Sacramento parish travelled to the church in Guerneville to assist with some of the demolition work. A local carpenter is working on the outdoor decks. Rotten wood below the existing church structure was completely removed and two new bathrooms were remodeled. More construction work is planned in February.

As stated in the appeal:

"'Be merciful, as your Father in heaven is merciful' (Luke 6:36). May the blessing of the Lord be upon you all!"

Improvements to the St. John Prayer Request Web Service PDF Print E-mail

Recently, the online web service for submitting names to the weekly St. John Prayer service (Moleben) on Saturdays has undergone some major improvements.

Since making this service available on our webpage we have received over 18,000 names that have been read at and prayed for at the service to Saint John!!! Prior to the recent changes that were implemented, the names were received in a way that required a substantial amount of manual work to merge the names received with a standard template. Theses merged templates containing the names were then printed out and taken to the relics of Saint John each Saturday. In order to accomodate the automation of name merging we have had to introduce some more stricter rules in terms of the way the names were being submitted on the web form. These new rules are outlined in more detail in the Guidelines section on the specific page. If you submit names regularly please review the new requirements so that you will be able to assist us in making the transition to the new automation as smooth as possible.

Here is a sample page of the newly automated report (which takes names stored in our database and merges with a PDF file) that we just print out and bring to the Cathedral:

You can submit your names for the Moleben service here.

We thank you for your assistance.
