  • On the feast of the Meeting of Our Lord a large delegation from the St. Nicholas Monastery in Pereslavl, Russia, headed by Abbess Evstolia of the St. Nicholas Monastery took part in the festal Liturgy at Holy Virgin Cathedral. Following the service the cathedral sisterhood sponsored a luncheon for the honored guests.
  • In February the annual trimming of trees on cathedral grounds took place. Thanks to Peter and Paul Bogatsky for taking care of the trees and ensuring their beauty.
  • A new cinder block wall has been erected, replacing the rotting wooden one, on the cathedral children's playground. Thanks to ConQuest Contractors for their excellent work.
  • On the Sunday of Orthodoxy, March 20, His Eminence ordained Subdeacon Edward Anderson to the diaconate at the late Liturgy at Holy Virgin Cathedral. Fr. Edward is a surgeon in the Lake Tahoe area. He is attached to the Holy Virgin Cathedral.
  • At the Parish Council Meeting on March 21 a final decision was made concerning the restoration of the cupola crosses. A special 4-step gold colored covering (Tnemec) will be applied in the near future, weather permitting.
  • On Friday, March 25 the Hawaii Myrrhstreaming Icon visited the Holy Virgin Cathedral and was present at the morning lenten services and the remainder of the day. Following the Presanctified Liturgy, at which there was a large turnout, a Molieben was served before the miraculous Icon.
  • The Lenten Retreat of the clergy of the Western American Diocese will take place on March 29-30 at Holy Virgin Cathedral. This year's theme is missionary work. On Wednesday, March 30 the Presanctified Liturgy will be celebrated by Archbishop Kyrill and diocesan clergy in the evening, at 6:00 pm (this is rare at our cathedral) and will be sung by the Cathedral Choir (it will be the first time this choir will sing this service).
  • The Annual General Meeting of the parishioners of Holy Virgin Cathedral is scheduled for Sunday, April 3, at 1:00 pm.
